 Incoming Kinder & new students

The first day of school can be very exciting and nerve-racking for the parents of Kindergartener’s and new students. Here are some helpful hints to help as you get to know your way around Marshall Lane School.

The first two weeks of school the parking lots and side roads into the campus are very busy. Plan on arriving early during this time. It will get easier to park once school has been in session for a few weeks.

• Remember to bring a morning snack and lunch including a water bottle for your child. If you are planning on utilizing the hot lunch program your child still needs a snack and water.

Hot lunch information is available on the school website at http://www.campbellusd.k12.ca.us/ and click on "Menu" from the pull down link.

The “Breezeway” is in the front entrance next to the school office. You will find the PTA program information there throughout the year.

 2010-2011 Annual Giving Campaign

Since 2005, the Annual Giving Campaign has been the largest source of funds for the Marshall Lane PTA and the primary way for parents to sustain the many special programs that make Marshall Lane so unique. It is our hope that enriching your child’s education is one of your top priorities. Every gift to Annual Giving, whatever its size, helps us continue important programs and makes a considerable impact on the education provided to the children at Marshall Lane.

Look for more information on how you can support your child’s education through the Annual Giving campaign to arrive soon in your mailbox. Thank you for your support!

 Volunteer Opportunities

A new school year = new opportunities to help create fun events and essential programs at Marshall Lane. See the current needs below and let us know if you'd like to be part of any of these great PTA programs.

WANTED: Art Connections Chair - Art Connections is a standards based visual arts program that consists of 8-10 lessons consisting of art history, art appreciation and an art activity.

Photography Coordinator – Enlists and coordinates a team of volunteer photographers to take photographs at Marshall Lane events for the Yearbook.

Bingo Night Chair – Manages the details of producing an evening of Bingo and fun for Marshall Lane families.

Play Day Chair – Works with the PE teacher to organize and put on the annual, end-of-year, day of water-play activities for the K-3rd grade students.

Project Cornerstone ABC Readers - Read a book once a month to students in a classroom, then conduct activities and discussions based on the anti-bully lessons in the book. We need a reader for each classroom (unless you would like to read to more than one class).

Project Cornerstone apprentice – Our Project Cornerstone Chair will be leaving after this year, so we are looking for someone willing to be mentored to become chair of this program for next year (2011-2012). This is an invaluable anti-bully program that teaches respect and caring in our students.

Kids Can Knit Chair – We require a person who can knit, who wants to lead an afterschool knitting program for students. In previous years, the knitted items produced were donated to charity.

Contact Marisa Pozas at volunteers@marshalllanepta.org if you are able to volunteer for any of our events.

 Yard Duty

Help our children thrive and learn on the yard! Lunch Recess is in need of three more volunteers for Kindergarten, five more volunteers for first grade and five more volunteers for second through fifth grades. Please check your schedule and see when you can help from:

11:35 - 12:25 Kindergarten
11:40 - 12:30 1st Grade
12:05 - 1:00pm 2nd - 5th Grades

Studies have shown that to be successful, a child needs three or more positive adult infuences in his life beyond his parents. BE one of those impactful adults in a child's life! Come out to the yard to be with our kids! See who their friends are, make friends yourself and coach students to practice socialization skills.
